Dalmac Return

I have cleared the calendar in 2011.  I will be riding the 4 day west this year.  I am going to make sure Dalmac #6 is going to be my best.

Georgetown to Steeltown

This year I signed up for a guided self-supported tour with The Adventure Cycling Association.    I will be riding from D.C  to Pittsburgh along the C&O Canal and then following the Great Allegheny Passage.   We will be riding about 330 miles over 7 days.  I will be taking my vintage 2005 Specialized Sirrus.  

Officially Offical 2010 season

Holly smokes, the off season in Northern Virginia was historic to say the least.   I have not seen this much snow since I was a boy in Michigan during the '78 blizzard .  Dulles Airport officially got 75" of snow fall for the season.

I have officially committed to raise $1,000 dollars fort the American Diabetes Association.   I will be ridding in the Tour de Cure on June 20th.   This is so important to me that I ask anyone reading this to join me in finding a cure and give what you can in my name.

First ride of 2010

Today,  I had the rare oppertunity to go for a bike ride.  I put in am easy 20.5 miles.   The W&OD was  being cleared of the many evergreens that had been felled by our 45" of snow in February.  I averaged 12.5 mph.  with 3 months of zero excersize I felt the need to ride more.

Club Seven

A nice day for a ride. It was about 60 degrees today. I noticed many riders on Seven's . Must be the dedication of the Seven Owner that brings us out this late in the season. I would love to get a few rides in December.

one more ride

I took advantage of a perfect November morning and went for a 32 mile ride today. The W&OD was busy with lots of riders. I averaged just over 15mph. I took the first 15miles out strong, I was so tired from the first half of my ride that I found myself getting passed by a local with an open parka; it was catching a bit of wind and not very aero. It gets worse, he was on a kid's mountain bike while talking on his cell. One of the best thing's about Northern Virgina is the extended bike season unless you are from California, and then I guess it suck's when it gets colder.

Shorter days, colder mornings and buckets of rain has limited my cycling adventures. Last week, I was able to go for a short 22mile ride. As fall turns to winter, I am reflecting upon the year. I have over 500 miles on the Seven. As with most new bikes, it takes time to adjust to the newness of it all. I would describe the bike as: light, stiff, comfortable, and expensive. Only one word can describe the whole experience and that is amazing. Thank you, Seven Cycles.
